From an exploration vessel, the new 262-foot superyacht idea is transformed into an amazing 5-star experience

Unbelievably, this incredible superyacht was formerly a tough, no-nonsense adventurer.

She is now a stunning 5-star ship.

The yacht, named Kestrel, was conceptualised by McFarlane Ship Design in collaboration with Bassan & Benedetti, an Italian design company.

It was revealed at the Monaco Yacht Show this year, and the concept behind it is actually quite straightforward—at least in theory.

The objective is to transform existing utilitarian ships into exquisite superyachts.

This is a win-win situation because prospective owners can save some money in addition to helping the environment.

This exalted “restomod” type conversion would preserve the original engineering, gear, and appearance.

All the rest, though, would be redesigned.

Of course, this includes the interior.

Based on a 262-foot yacht, this proposal has an upper deck lounge, an aft deck swimming pool, and a helipad.

There’s still more.

In addition, it features a movie theatre, a spa, and lodging for up to 14 guests and 25 crew members.

Kestrel has a huge garage filled with toys, Jet Skis, and diving gear in addition to all of that.

The designers claim that Kestrel is capable of reaching a cruise speed of 16 knots, making her both swift and majestic.

What about the price?

This class of yachts typically costs eight or nine figures, occasionally ten.

That would cost more money than this, though.

Although the project’s companies haven’t provided any pricing or numbers, the conversion would be far less expensive than creating a brand-new ship from the ground up.
