But Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has taken his well-known preferences to the next level, proposing that the Premier League champions import his favorite Norwegian salmon, prepared only by the best chefs.
The 23-year-old Yorkshire-born striker is said to be so dissatisfied with the meals at the Etihad Campus training facility that he convinced officials to bring fish from his childhood home in Scandinavia.
The seafood switch-up has also been enthusiastically embraced by club personnel, according to one insider who told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Haaland’s been banging on about the fish.
‘He enjoyed salmon, so he asked the nutritionist to arrange for the best fish restaurant in Norway to send their kitchen staff over. It cost the club a fortune, but it was the best fish I’ve ever eaten..
