Usain Bolt, the record holder with eight Olympic gold medals and the fastest man in history with a time of 9.58 seconds in the 100-meter race, had a passion for music before he pursued track and field. After retiring from mainstream athletics, Bolt gradually transitioned into the music industry with ambitions of winning Grammy awards and creating chart-topping albums.
To establish himself in the music industry, Bolt sought a mentor, and he found one in DJ Khaled, whom he has long admired. In a recent social media clip, Bolt was seen with DJ Khaled, referring to him as his mentor. Bolt also shared the reason behind his love for music.
In a video uploaded to his X account, Bolt interacted with DJ Khaled, who warmly welcomed him and called him an “inspiration.” Bolt revealed that DJ Khaled was guiding him in producing high-quality music. Sitting in his ‘Tracks & Records’ restaurant, Bolt discussed how he ventured into music as a career.
Bolt explained that music had always been a passion of his since childhood, initially aspiring to become a disc jockey (DJ). However, his track and field success took precedence and put his DJ aspirations on hold. Interestingly, after his athletic meets, people would request him to DJ, and he would occasionally perform as a DJ. Bolt recalled, “Because at meets, after meets, they used to ask me to DJ… so I used to DJ after a few of the meets.”
Ultimately, Bolt discovered his niche and admitted that singing was not his strong suit. Instead, he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his mentor, DJ Khaled, and focus on music production. Surprisingly, Bolt’s inclination towards production was not sudden. In 2021, he released his debut music album, highlighting his dedication to pursuing a career in music.
