Kevin Hart has asserted his membership in an exclusive and confidential group.
During his promotional tour for his action-comedy movie “Lift,” which debuts on Netflix this Friday, the comedian disclosed his involvement in a secretive and prestigious group text. In conversation with People at the New York City premiere of “Lift,” Hart, 44, revealed that he exchanges messages with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Jet Li, and Jackie Chan — all major figures in the action genre. Despite the secrecy of the group, Hart humorously shared that they discuss action-related topics.
“It’s a truly clandestine chat, and I probably shouldn’t be revealing it,” Hart admitted. “I could face repercussions from the other action stars.” Now established as an action star himself, following roles alongside Johnson in “Central Intelligence” (2016), “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” (2017), and “Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw” (2019), Hart finds common ground with his peers in the genre.
While he hasn’t collaborated with everyone in this elite chat, Hart did form strong bonds with his “Lift” co-stars, including Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ursula Corbero, and Sam Worthington. Reflecting on the experience, Hart highlighted the close camaraderie among the cast, which extended beyond the set to shared meals and moments together in hotels.
“Lift” revolves around a master thief convinced by his ex-girlfriend and the FBI to pull off a daring heist aboard a passenger flight from London to Zurich.
Additionally, Hart defended fellow comedian Jo Koy following his hosting of the Golden Globes, emphasizing Koy’s comedic talent despite the challenging environment of such an event. When asked if he would host a major awards show again, Hart firmly declined, citing his current career priorities.
