Against Ecuador on Thursday, defender Lisandro Martinez scored Argentina’s first goal in the Copa America 2024 quarterfinal.
In the 35th minute, Lionel Messi scored a goal after he swung in a corner kick that was flicked behind by Alexis Mac Allister, who leaped above Martinez.
The centre back for Manchester United powerfully headed the ball in the direction of the goal. Alexander Dominguez, the Ecuadorian custodian, attempted in vain to punch it out because the ball was securely inside the goal.
On March 22, 2019, Martinez made his debut for Argentina on the international scene during a 1-3 loss to Venezuela in an International Friendly.
The player had participated in 20 matches for his country’s national team, including the 2021 Copa America and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, before the quarterfinal encounter against Ecuador.
