If Aaron Ramsdale leaves Arsenal this summer, The Athletic believes that the club may pursue a trade for Espanyol custodian Joan Garcia.
The Gunners seek to rebuild their roster after a more than 20-year spell without a Premier League championship.
Although Mikel Arteta’s side has yet to sign, if Ramsdale leaves, they are reportedly looking for a left defender, midfielder, striker and goalkeeper.
Arsenal is targeting Joan Garcia.
Several players are expected to leave the Emirates, with Arsenal open to offers for Emile Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson.
Ramsdale comes into that category after losing his starting berth to David Raya last season; the Gunners intend to permanently relocate the Spaniard to north London.
The 26-year-old made only 11 appearances in all competitions last season, including six in the Premier League; he may benefit from a move away from Arsenal to begin his career.
Although the England international had been closely associated with a relocation to Newcastle, the Magpies have instead signed Greek international Odysseas Vlachodimos from Nottingham Forest.
Should Ramsdale depart, the Athletic have informed the Gunners of Espanyol’s Garcia as a backup.
The 23-year-old, who is said to have a €25 million release clause in his contract, is now the Spanish club’s second choice behind Fernando Pacheco.
Garcia is certain to play for Spain at the Olympics; he kept eight clean sheets in 14 outings for Espanyol last season as they were promoted back to La Liga.
According to The Athletic, Ramsdale is dissatisfied with his position as number two and will most certainly leave if an offer approaches the £24 million they paid Sheffield United in 2021.
