According to Spanish station Jijantes, Barcelona will soon have an answer to Arsenal’s Jules Kounde deal.
Kounde has just ended his second season at Barcelona, having joined the Catalan club for €50 million (£41.8 million) from Sevilla two years ago.The 25-year-old can play both centre-back and right-back, although he primarily played on the right side of Barcelona’s defense last season, and he kept that position in France’s three group stage games at EURO 2024.Barca only sold Kounde for a huge price.
According to Jijantes, Arsenal approached Barcelona about signing Kounde this summer, but the La Liga club will not sell the France international.
The insider confirmed that Barcelona has informed the Gunners that Kounde would not be leaving at this moment. Only when they receive a strong enough offer at a high price will they agree to sell Kounde.
Kounde’s Barcelona contract includes a €1 billion (£837 million) release clause, therefore Arsenal will need to negotiate a transfer fee.
Meanwhile, Ronald Araujo’s future at Barcelona remains unknown, with the Spanish club open to offers for the Uruguay international this summer.
