Jurrien Timber, Arsenal FC’s defender, says he has been much inspired by Rwanda’s unity and harmony.
The Dutch footballer began his three-day visit to the country on Thursday, December 14.
“Revelry to be in Rwanda is splendid. I am having a tremendous time spent here. Everyone seems to be smiling, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. “My experience thus far in Rwanda has lived up to the many positive things I have heard,” Timber said while observing juvenile footballers on a playground near Kigali Pele Stadium.
On his first day in Rwanda, Timber paid his homage to the Tutsi genocide victims at the Genocide Memorial Centre.
“It is crucial to comprehend Rwanda’s history and the events that transpired in the country.” “I am grateful for the current state of peace that has been established in the nation,” he expressed.
Engaging in discussion with the young football players, the 22-year-old related a bit of his life’s path.
“My mother is the greatest source of motivation for me.” She is exceptionally dear to me. “We had little when I was young, but her support helped me get to where I am today,” he explained.
Reflecting on his career, a former Ajax player said that even though he was injured in the Community Shield game versus Manchester City, it was his most unforgettable event.
He also revealed that Erling Haaland of Manchester City is the most powerful striker he has ever come across.
“Despite suffering an injury, my finest performance was in the Community Shield match between Arsenal and Manchester City.” “Erling Haaland is the most formidable striker I have ever encountered,” he stated.
Timber conveyed his admiration for the “Visit Rwanda” initiative and the Rwandan people’s tremendous support for Arsenal.
“I’ve noticed many Arsenal shirts on the streets; people really support Arsenal here,” according to him.
Acting as the Official Tourism Partner and first Sleeve Sponsor of Arsenal FC, Timber’s journey is a project of Visit Rwanda.
