Hojlund gets the legendary jersey from Anthony Martial, who left Old Trafford when his contract expired.

Dimitar Berbatov and Andy Cole are two notable United players who have worn the shirt in recent years.

Following his arrival from Atalanta last summer, the Red Devils granted Hojlund the number 11 shirt.

Prior to moving to Italy, he wore number nine for Austrian club Sturm Graz.

Hojlund has also been named to Erik ten Hag’s 29-man team for their US tour.

During his maiden season in England, the 21-year-old scored 16 goals in 43 games and assisted twice.

New signee While he waits for his squad number, Zirkzee might instantly take up Hojlund’s number 11.

Earlier this month, the Dutch forward completed a £36.5 million transfer from Bologna.

Zirkzee wore number 11 during his first season in Serie A before changing to number 9.

In addition, he wore number 32 for Bayern Munich, a position that has been vacant since Sam Johnstone left United in 2018.
