Rick Ross has made a remarkable recovery from his suspected heart attack, showing up in high spirits at Bal Harbour Shops in Miami Beach with his family on Friday. This marks the first public appearance of the 42-year-old hip-hop artist—who had been on life support—since his four-day battle for survival in the hospital’s cardiac unit.
Drake, Missy Elliott, and Snoop Dogg were among those who publicly prayed for the five-time Grammy nominee, who was seen holding his six-month-old daughter, Berkeley Hermès, with his model partner, Briana Camille. Also present was Ross’ daughter Toie, from his previous relationship with Lastonia Leviston. Toie’s $100K Sweet 16 party, initially set for March 17 at the Versace mansion (Casa Casuarina), had to be postponed, according to TMZ. Ross had even arranged for performances by Rich Homie Quan, Trina, Meek Mill, and Ace Hood for the event.
However, his 11-year-old son William III, from his previous relationship with Tia Kemp, was not part of the outing. Since returning home on Monday, Ross (whose full name is William Roberts) has been active on social media, sharing a recent photo of The Notorious B.I.G. and his daughter Toie.
During his ICU stay, the “Purple Lamborghini” rapper reportedly underwent ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), a procedure that oxygenates blood outside the body before returning it. Ross’ previous major health issue occurred in 2011 when he suffered two seizures on separate flights, leading him to lose 100 pounds to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
It remains uncertain whether Ross will be able to perform at his next concert, scheduled for March 31 at Houston’s Arena Theatre.
