West Ham captain Rice, 24, is set to join Arsenal for a club and British record £105 million fee, with £100 million up front and £5 million in add-ons.
According to Mail Sport, the Hammers are becoming increasingly unhappy with the deal’s delays as Gunners attorneys continue to prepare papers for the transfer.
However, the defensive midfielder appears to be attempting to blot out the uncertainties surrounding his future while working hard to achieve peak condition in Portugal.
Rice uploaded photos of himself working alongside Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes and AC Milan teammate Rafael Leao of Portugal at the luxurious sports complex The Campus in Quinta do Lago, Algarve.
At the time of writing, the six photos on his 2.3 million-follower Instagram profile had received roughly 280,000 likes.
The images show Rice running forwards with Fernandes watching on in the background, smiling as he sits on a drinks cooler box with Leao, striking a volley, passing a ball in between two dummies and crouched down on his haunches.
England’s Rice then lay on the ground with the Portuguese couple and a fourth player, resting after their exertions in the July heat. Fans may be surprised by his decision to practice with Fernandes given Arsenal’s rivalry with the Red Devils.
Rice began his preseason workouts on Tuesday, as Arsenal fans await the formal announcement of his transfer from West Ham.
The deal is expected to take place soon, but the north London club has yet to make a formal announcement, despite manager Mikel Arteta’s desire for him to travel on their pre-season tour of the United States.
That tour begins next week, and Rice has resumed pre-season training after taking a well-deserved rest.
‘Back at it,’ he commented, sharing a sequence of photos of himself working out at The Campus, where he can be seen jogging and lifting weights while looking weary at the end of the session.
The Englishman is familiar with the complex, having visited there with West Ham just six weeks ago prior to the Europa Conference League final.
